Sunday Stroll in The Fenway

If you’re heading to Boston this summer (or live here), here’s a fun, easy afternoon idea perfect for solo exploring, a casual date, or catching up with a friend.

Start by hopping on the Green Line (D to Riverside) and get off at the Fenway stop. Yes, the first stop! As you exit, you’ll be greeted by a walkway bursting with rainbow-colored blooms in celebration of Pride Month.  It’s a beautiful, unexpected welcome that makes the ride feel worth it from the start.

A few steps away is Time Out Market Boston, a lively food hall. I went with the spicy ahi tuna bowl from gogo ya (10/10 would order again). If you're the type to mix food with creativity, pop next door to Blick Art Materials — perfect for grabbing a new sketchbook, brush pen, or inspiration.

After lunch, take the short five-minute stroll to Fenway Park.  Even when the Sox are away, there's something special about being near the "Green Monster." When I went, crews were setting up for Hozier’s concerts. I almost ducked into Bleacher Bar (you can literally watch the game through a window into the outfield), but I’m saving that for a Red Sox home game. Instead I opted for some shopping at 19 Jersey Street, the souvenir store where I bought a Red Sox Foundation hat with a heart in the center of their logo.

Here’s a tip: walk across the David Ortiz Bridge afterward. You’ll get a great view of the iconic Citgo sign, a true Boston landmark, and find your way back to Kenmore Square, where you can catch the Green Line back downtown or to Fort Point like I did.
