FOCUSed philoSophie's - "It's refillable!"
Name: Meaghan B Murphy
Occupation: Executive Editor of Good Housekeeping and Author of the upcoming book “The Fully Charged Life” with Penguin-Random House
Hobbies/Activities you'd like to share: Exercise is my happy pill, so hitting the gym for 5AM workouts with my good vibe tribe is a daily YAY! I also love a good Team Murphy dance party when I’m not writing, cleaning, organizing and road-testing life hacks!
Find/Keep the Fun in business:
Fun is my favorite F word! I try to inject joy into everything I do. At GH, I often remind the team that we’re not curing cancer. Our job is to dream up genius ideas that make life simpler, tastier, more beautiful. How lucky are we?!
Opportunities/Optimism
I like to say: The glass isn’t half empty or half full: It’s refillable! When you stop seeing the world as “good vs. bad” and realize that our actions (which we control!) dictate our outcomes, it’s very empowering!
Confidence:
The older I get, the more I like myself. I’ve seen the amazing things my body can do like run a marathon or birth 3 kids, so I can forgive the stray chin hair with gratitude.
deal with the Unexpected:
When I was studying acting, a coach once explained to me that a flubbed line or a falling piece of scenery on stage is actually a gift. It forces you to snap out of the rote recital of your lines and be truly present. I think of the unexpected in life in the same way: It’s an opportunity to experience everything from joy to pain more fully.
Simplify ( workload, life, etc...) :
Say NO a lot more often! This is so key. Your time is the most precious commodity you have and you can’t waste it on people or things that don’t fully charge you.
